HISTORY

Carrapateira is a small village located in the Costa Vicentina Natural Park in the Algarve region of Portugal. Historically, it was a small fishing community that relied on the sea for its livelihood. In the early 20th century, Carrapateira saw a surge in population as people from surrounding areas migrated to the village to work in agriculture. However, with the decline of the agricultural industry in the latter half of the 20th century, the village's population dwindled once again.

In recent years, Carrapateira has experienced a resurgence in tourism, thanks in part to its stunning beaches and rugged coastline, making it a popular destination for surfers, hikers, and nature lovers. Today, the village is a charming mix of traditional Portuguese culture and modern amenities, attracting visitors from all over the world.
